What is ClingKit?
What exactly is this?
ClingKit is a personalized dress-up kit starring your actual pet. You upload a photo, use our online fitting room to dress them in clothes and accessories, and we print everything on static cling vinyl – your pet’s silhouette plus every accessory, each as its own piece. You stick them on your fridge, mirror, window, or wherever. Then you dress them up. Then you rearrange the outfit. Then you do it again.
Wait, is this just a sticker?
No. A sticker just sits there. ClingKit is a, well, you know… kit. Your pet’s silhouette is one 8″ tall piece. Every accessory is a separate piece. You can dress them, swap them out, take them off, and layer them endlessly. It’s Colorforms, but it’s your actual dog.
Who is this for?
Technically: anyone who has a pet and access to a refrigerator or other smooth surface. Practically: people who think their pet deserves more outfits. Also: people who have faced social consequences for dressing their dog in public and need a place where that’s not only accepted but actively encouraged. You’re safe here.
The Product
How big is the pet cling?
Your pet prints at 8 inches tall. Accessories are sized to match during the fitting process, so everything looks proportional when it arrives.
What surfaces does it stick to?
Smooth, non-porous surfaces: refrigerators, mirrors, windows, glass, tile, and acrylic. It will not stick to walls, rough surfaces, or anything with a texture. The fridge makes the most sense to us, but you do you.
Does it leave a residue or damage surfaces?
Static cling vinyl maintains adhesion through a pressure-mediated interface in which atmospheric differentials and weak intermolecular forces such as van der Waals interactions induce transient molecular bonding across a uniformly smooth contact surface. Which obviously means that there is no adhesive, no damage, and no residue. Static cling is the whole deal – it gently sticks to smooth surfaces. Peel it off whenever you want.
Can the accessories stack on top of each other?
Yes – this is one of our favorite things about it. The back of each cling adheres to the smooth printed surface of whatever’s underneath it. So you can put the sunglasses on, then the hat, and they’ll stay exactly where you put them.
Does it work on matte surfaces?
Static cling needs smooth and non-porous to work properly. Matte-painted walls, textured surfaces, fabric – those won’t work. But whether you live in a wood cabin, an igloo, or a cardboard box down by the river, don’t stress – every kit includes a smooth play surface, so you’ve always got a guaranteed place to set up and start dressing.
Photos
What kind of photo do I need?
This is important and needs to be right!
- Full body. No head shots.
- Facing and looking straight at the camera.
- Sitting on a hard surface like a patio or driveway – not grass (which will cover their toes)
- Good lighting, no heavy shadows.
- Simple or plain background is a plus – it helps us cut a clean silhouette.
What if my pet refuses to sit still?
Welcome to the club. We’d suggest treats, the specific sound of a cheese wrapper, or a favorite toy. But do what it takes and be patient. The ClingKit you order can only be as good as the photo you take. (And since it’s a custom product, there are no returns.)
Can I do a different pose?
Sadly, no. The accessories we offer are only oriented to fit one pose: sitting, face-on, full body. Trying to offer clothes and accessories for all the different poses and angles is just not feasible.
What file types do you accept?
JPG, PNG, and HEIC (iPhone photos work great). Minimum size is 1500px on the shortest side – most modern phone cameras are well above this.
My photo is on my phone. How do I get it to my computer?
A few easy ways: AirDrop it if you’re on Apple devices, upload it to Google Photos and download the original to your desktop, or plug in via USB if you’re on Android. If you email it to yourself, just make sure to send it as an “actual size” or “original” attachment – most email apps will offer that option, and some will compress it automatically if you don’t. Any method works, just make sure the file that lands on your computer is the full-size original. We need at least 1500px on the shortest side, and most modern phone cameras are well above that – as long as you don’t let anything squeeze it down in transit.
Do you keep my photo?
We store your pet’s background-removed image to your account so you can reorder accessories without re-uploading. We don’t sell it, share it, or use it for anything else. Ever.
The Fitting Room
How does the fitting room work?
Once you upload your photo and we remove the background, you’ll see your pet on a canvas with our accessory library alongside it. Click an accessory, position it on your pet, resize it until it looks right, and add it to your kit. Repeat until you’ve built the most unhinged outfit imaginable.
Do I have to create an account?
Yes – you’ll need an account to complete your kit. This is so we can save your pet’s photo and fitting data so you can come back and order more accessories later without starting over.
Can I come back and add more accessories later?
That’s the whole idea. Once your pet is saved to your account, you can return any time and add more accessories to an existing subject without re-uploading or re-fitting.
Is the fitting room mobile-friendly?
Until we can bend space and time (we’re working on it), the fitting room is only a full desktop experience. Why? Because fitting involves dragging, resizing, and layering accessories, which is just too small and fussy to do on a phone screen.
Orders & Shipping
What comes in my kit?
Your pet’s silhouette cling, plus every accessory you ordered – each as its own separate piece on a backing sheet. We also include a play surface (which sounds cooler than it is – it’s really just a smooth piece of laminated cardboard) so you can always have somewhere to use your ClingKit. There’s also an instruction card in case you’ve never used static cling vinyl before and need someone to formally tell you to peel the backing off. Everything ships flat in a cardboard mailer that has been sprinkled with pixy dust and good vibes.
Do I have to buy some sort of bundle?
Nope. You pick what you want – the subject cling plus any accessories you’d like. There’s no enforced kit structure. Order one accessory. Order twenty. We’re not going to stop you.
How long does it take?
On our end, creating the ClingKit itself usually just takes a day or so. Once ordered, you can track your ClingKit through the shipment method you select at checkout.
Can I order more accessories for a pet I already have a kit for?
Yes – and this is very much encouraged. Log in, select your saved pet, add more accessories from the fitting room, check out. Your new pieces will arrive ready to join the existing kit.
Currently & Coming Soon
Do you only do dogs and cats?
Well, it’s complicated. Technically there is no reason why ClingKit wouldn’t work with a horse, rabbit, wallaby, parakeet, or any other animal that can look you straight on. And since we can’t guarantee it will work, for now, officially we only support dogs and cats. But for those interested in experimenting with other animals, we solute you! If you can dress it in our fitting room and you like the way it looks, we’ll print it.
A note about humans: ClingKit can work with photos of people. But the functionality is not currently optimized for the human form. Our roadmap plans to add a more tailored experience for human ClingKits (think bridesmaid gifts, dressing up mommy and daddy at bath time, custom gift for grandpa’s 80th, etc.)
